Hardware development is no longer a slow, linear process. It is iterative, aggressive, and fast. PCBONLINE provides turnkey PCB manufacturing to match that pace. By offering the fastest 8-working-hour PCB fabrication and matching assembly speeds, we allow engineers and OEMs to reach the market first.

  • Quit-turn PCB lead-time fastest time 8 working hours:

Our factories implement two-shift work, so for expedited orders, we can complete the manufacturing at 8 working hours (including our DFM and prototype PCB fabrication, the 8-hour lead-time starts from you sending Gerber to us.)

However, please note that 8 working hours is our fastest lead time for FR4 PCBs, aluminum PCBs, and single-layer FPCs.

If your PCB is a high-frequency PCB, rigid-flex PCB, HDI PCB, multilayer FPC, copper-core PCB, or ceramic PCB, our quick-turn PCB lead-time can't be that short; instead, it's 3 - 5 working days because we need more time to do the DFM and manufacturing.

Especially for high-frequency PCB, though we maintain in-stack high-frequency laminates in our warehouse within 45 days of expiration for many common laminates, it may still happen if we don't have the laminate in stock for the microwave/RF/antenna PCB you want. Our supply chain team takes about 2weeks to 1month to purchase the high-frequency laminate, so the quick-turn high-frequency PCB may take more time.

  • Another working day for quick-turn PCB assembly:

Please note that the prototype and low-volume PCB assembly at PCBONLINE also takes another 8 working hours, with the premise that all components in your BOM are in our component warehouse (our component warehouse stores 1000,000+ types of basic passive components and 1,000 types of active components & expensive IC chips).

  • Additional costs for expedited orders: We charge additional fees for expedited orders as we insert your orders into our scheduled plans.
  • Shipping time is not included in lead-time:

Please note that the 8-hour fastest PCB lead time or 2-day fastest PCBA prototype doesn't mean you can receive the PCBs or samples the next day when you send your Gerber and pay, as the shipping also takes time.

We support air, train, and sea shipping of FedEx, UPS, DHL, and EMS. We are located in Shenzhen, China. According to our experience, air shipping to the US when you receive the circuit boards takes 2-3 days, and it's longer by sea shipping (5-6days to 12days if delayed by the customs clearance).

Quick-Turn PCB Service

From a technical and operational standpoint, delivering a PCB in 8 working hours is an exercise in logistical synchronization. It is not merely about "working faster"; it is about a vertically integrated system designed for rapid throughput.

The 8-Hour "Gerber-to-Board" Protocol

The 8-hour lead time is a benchmark specifically optimized for FR4 PCBs, aluminum PCBs, and single-layer Flexible Printed Circuits (FPCs). This timeframe is measured from the moment the client sends the Gerber files to the completion of the physical fabrication.

The process includes:

  • Rapid DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Engineers immediately analyze the Gerber files to ensure they are manufacturable, preventing errors that could lead to scrap.
  • Two-shift workforce: PCBONLINE's factories operate on a dual-shift system. This ensures that the machines never stop, allowing expedited orders to be "hot-swapped" into the production line without waiting for a new business day to begin
  • Integrated fabrication: Because PCBONLINE owns its manufacturing bases, there is no third-party delay. The PCB moves from imaging to etching, drilling, and plating in one continuous flow.

Specialized Quick-Turn PCB Timelines for Advanced Materials

Speed is always balanced against the physical realities of material science. For more complex architectures, the lead time is adjusted to maintain structural integrity and signal performance.

PCB type
Quick-turn lead time
Why it takes longer
FR4 / aluminum / 1-layer FPC
8 Working hours
Standard materials, streamlined processing.
HDI / rigid-flex / multilayer FPC
3 - 5 working days
Complex laser drilling and multiple lamination cycles.
Copper-core / ceramic PCB
3 - 5 working days
Specialized thermal management and material handling.
High-frequency PCB
3 - 5 working days*
Requires precise impedance control and Rogers/Arlon materials.

Note on High-frequency materials: PCBONLINE maintains an in-stock inventory of common high-frequency laminates (stored under strict environmental controls to ensure they are used within 45 days of expiration). However, if a specific, rare laminate is required, the supply chain team may need 2 weeks to 1 month for procurement, which will extend the quick-turn timeline.

The 8-Hour PCBA Prototype Parallel

Speed doesn't stop at the bare PCB. For clients requiring fully assembled prototypes, PCBONLINE offers an additional 8-hour assembly window.

PCBONLINE's turnkey PCB assembly factory in Shenzhen has a massive on-site component warehouse, which houses:

  • 1,000,000+ types of basic passive components (resistors, capacitors, etc.).
  • 1,000 types of active components and high-value IC chips.

Provided all components in the Bill of Materials (BOM) are in stock, a prototype can be assembled nearly as fast as the PCB is printed.

Deep Dive into Quick-Turn PCB Manufacturing Complexity

It is vital to understand the reason behind the different lead times. PCBONLINE's 3–5 day window for advanced PCBs isn't a sign of slowness; it is a sign of quality control.

  • High-Density Interconnect (HDI): HDI PCBs use microvias and multiple layers of lamination. Every time a layer is added, the board must be pressed, heated, and cooled. You cannot rush the physics of resin curing without risking delamination.
  • Rigid-flex PCBs: Combining flexible polyimide with rigid FR4 involves complex material transitions. The bonding process is delicate and requires precise alignment that cannot be rushed in an 8-hour window if the PCB is to survive thermal cycling.
  • Ceramic and copper-core: These materials are harder on drilling bits and require specialized etching chemistry. They are "boutique" fabrications that demand the careful attention of PCBONLINE's senior technicians.

Logistics and Global Reach of Quick-Turn PCB

A common misconception in the PCB industry is that an "8-hour lead time" means the quick-turn PCB arrives at your door the next day. PCBONLINE is careful to clarify the distinction between Manufacturing Lead Time and Shipping Transit Time.

PCB prototype quick-turn

Located in Shenzhen, PCBONLINE is at the epicenter of global logistics. This allows for immediate hand-offs to major international carriers.

Once the 8-hour fabrication or the 8-hour assembly is complete, the PCBs enter the global shipping network. PCBONLINE supports multiple modes of transport to balance cost and speed:

  • Air shipping (FedEx, UPS, DHL):
To the USA: Usually 2-3 days. This is the standard for quick-turn prototypes.
Reliability: High, though subject to customs processing.
  • Sea shipping:
To the USA: Usually 5-12 days.
Variable: Can be delayed by customs clearance or port congestion. This is typically reserved for mass production where volume outweighs the need for immediate speed.
  • Rail/train shipping: Often used for European land-bridge routes, providing a middle ground between air and sea.

To receive quick-turn PCBs within a week, an engineer must account for:

  • Fabrication (8 Hours)
  • Assembly (8 Hours - Optional)
  • Transit (2-3 Days via Air)

Totaling roughly 3-4 business days from Gerber upload to the engineer's desk. This is world-class speed, but it requires the client to be ready to approve DFM queries instantly to keep the 8-hour clock running.
